Doris hosted my wedding shower

Throughout my life, I always remember Doris as being one of the most beautiful and elegant women I have been blessed to know. Her smile would light up the room. Doris always greeted me with a hug. Doris and Wilbur always welcomed me to swim in their pool. Doris hosted my wedding shower and it was such fun. I send prayers and blessings out to Wilbur and all of the family during this difficult time. Doris will be greatly missed.

A friendship of over 60 some years

Doris and I have had a friendship of over 60 some years, and many good times together. She was a gentle, kind and thoughtful person. I am lucky to have had her as my friend. Doris loved her family and talked of them often. We will all miss her beautiful smile. My heart goes out to Wilbur, Cyndi, Steven and family.

Doris loved collecting beautiful things

My John knew Will growing up in Englewood, a wonderful family. When John ran for Arapahoe County Commissioner, Doris and Will were wonderful supporters all those many years starting in 1964. In the 1988 election, Doris opened her home and set up a phone bank for volunteers to come in and make calls to voters for the primary election. Through all their help, John won the election easily and we were so grateful for their generosity. Will and Doris were also involved with First Federal Savings and Loan Bank, as was John. We would sit together at special events and the annual First Federal Christmas Party, which was a great treat for us and we could catch up on news. As we know, Doris loved collecting beautiful things and it really was like an art form. She found a piece of sheet music with a beautiful face of a flapper from the 1920’s, and then found another one of a different color, but the same face. Doris asked John if he would draw a third one in pencil and he was very pleased that Doris asked him. She framed the three together. Doris was special and a very lovely lady and will be remembered by many. I’m so sorry for Will and the family for their loss and with sympathy I write this note.

Respectfully, Ida May Nicholl

Beautiful reflections

Aunt Doris , may everyone take comfort in knowing even though you have been reunited with other loved ones who have passed and that it is only your physical body that is now at rest, your memories will forever be with each of us. We can and will view your beautiful reflections through other family members. God bless and rest in peace.

Generous and compassionate

I feel so thankful to have known Dodie. She was a warm, generous and compassionate person, always forthcoming about her love of family. It was clear that spending time with loved ones brought her such joy. She often made it a point to let others know how much they meant to her. Dodie and Wilbur shared a deep and immediately apparent love. It touched me to see how they looked after one another and I enjoyed any opportunity to hear about the life they shared. Dodie will be sorely missed.

Light of your life

Steve, I know this has been an incredibly hard year for you and your family. Your character has been tested once again and you have prevailed. While this has been a character building year for you, you somehow see the good in everything and your light embraces those around you. Thank you for being that person to me. I wish you joy in celebrating your mothers life in remembrance of the good times when she was the light of your life.

Warmth and beauty

I loved her and admired her warmth and beauty. I always wanted to be like her when I grew up. She never treated any of us different when it came to her love. So sorry to hear. She will be missed by many including me.

Red hats

I was in red hats with Doris. We had some great times for a few years. She always looked great. I moved away ten years ago and seemed to have lost all connections. Doris was a lovely lady and a real friend. My love to all of you and may you be blessed with GOD’s peace that surpasses all understanding.

To live in the hearts

To live in the hearts of those you love is not to die.” This is one of my favorite quotes–I read it in James Michener’s book “Centennial” and have found solace in its message through my own losses. Thinking of you and your family. Life without your mom is definitely a new normal that just doesn’t feel right.

Love you Mom

We lost the shining light of our family yesterday. It is with great sadness we say Rest In Peace to my wonderful mother Doris Wright. Our entire family has been blessed by this angel on earth and are deeply saddened with her passing. Dodie would light up any room and was a loving and caring person to so many. We will all miss her smile and warm heart but know she is now with God and Brandon who is watching over her now. Love you Mom. ❤️

Aunt Doris

I am devastated by such sad news. Aunt Doris stepped in many times in my life after my mom passed away and helped me to navigate my high school years. She always had such kind words not only for me but about all my family especially my parents reassuring me of how proud they would have been of me. My heart breaks tonight.

Amazing woman

Dodie was an amazing woman I was fortunate to be super close to for 40 years. I will always have a hole in my heart for her but am so fortunate to have amazing memories of funtastic Nathan’s at Cinderella city, rides in her mustang, night swimming in her pool, shopping trips, playing dress up in her closet Or when she would come to grandparents day in her jumpsuits and spiked high heels looking like a movie star!! We would sit and talk and have lovely wonderful conversations. My love of fashion came from my Dodie and my mom and I will Have inspiration from her always! I am so fortunate to have so many lovely memories and even ones of never being able to leave without something, be it an apple, water, box of cereal, or a statue she was always offering everyone things as they left ❤️. She will be forever missed ❤️. ??. RIP Dodie! I love you always!

Flowers and grandchildren

Dodie adored her flowers and all of her grand & great grandchildren.

I remember her Christmas decorations every year were so extravagant & fun! She had a decorated tree in nearly every room!

Dodie & Papa always enjoyed watching Sophie become a swimmer in their pool.
